My name is Jonathan Assad, I am currently 18 years old (2003), and I am from Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. I currently attend Western University, and am enrolled in the Medical Sciences program with Ivey AEO status. I am also currently a member of the Western Men’s Soccer team. Prior, I attempted St. Michael’s College School where I was a part of the graduating class of 2021. I have been playing soccer since the age of three years old for teams such as Glen-Shields OPDL and CSL; Future Academy (coached by Bob De Klerk, who is now the coach of Atlanta FC in the MLS). I played for the Woodbridge Strikers U-18 CSL (one year level above my age). As well as Woodbridge Striker 2003.
The position I currently play as a winger and wingback; however, I am adaptable to playing other positions as I have also played striker, right wing, right midfield, center defensive mid and right back, in the past. I started as a high-scoring winger at a young age; where, I have learned to take advantage of my speed in the game and create opportunities for the team, and beat defenders 1v1 outside to get off the cross or finish.
While playing on my high school soccer team at St. Michael’s College School, I have played every year as a striker, and I have been very successful scoring for the team. Our team won CISAA; however, we could not compete at OFSAA due to the age restriction. I was one of the league’s top scorers that year.
St. Michael’s College School is not only a strong sports school, but also a rigorous academic learning environment. I am a dedicated student athlete.
I train daily in the gym on my strength and core in order to build stamina and endurance as expected in a winger on a strong team.
I strive to expand my horizons, continue to work hard, and continue my soccer career at Western University.
